YOLLOTL ALVARADO

Yollotl Alvarado / Mexico City, MX, 1989.

His work is geared towards a reflection about the present day political environment and works around the idea of landscape as an ideological and social construction, using Mexico’s history and the national representations as catalyzers for his production processes. Alvarado is a founding member of the ¨Cooperativa Cráter Invertido¨ and the collectives: “Grupo (DE)”, “Frente Libertario de Liberación Libertad (F.L.L.L)”, “CIDOC (Consultorio Informal de Desplazamientos a Ojos Cerrados)”, “Brigada Revolucionaria Popocatépetl (B.P.R)¨. He is also a collaborator of the ¨Fundación 4-18 (Colombia)”.

His artistic formation began with a bachelor’s degree in photography from ¨Escuela Activa de Fotografía¨ (2004-2007), he later started the ¨Contemporary Photography Seminar at Centro de la Imagen¨ 2008) and obtained a second degree in Visual Arts from ¨La Esmeralda¨ ENPEG (2008-2012). During his time at la Esmeralda, Alvarado did an internship with the ¨Universidad Nacional de Colombia¨ (2011). He has been the recipient of the scholarship “Arts Collaboratory” as “Crater Invertido” (2016-2012), the first place in the ¨Bienal Nacional del Paisaje¨ (2017), the acquisition price in the “Bienal Internacional De Arte Universitario (2012)” and of the ¨Encuentro Nacional de Arte Joven¨ (2009) he also was creditor for the program “Jóvenes Creadores Fonca-Conaculta (2011-2012) ” where he did an artistic residency “En Paralelo” in Medellín, Colombia inside the “43 Salón (inter) Nacional de Artistas.(2013)” and the residency of “89+” in the Cultural Institute of Google in Paris, France.
